CAUTION!
The Cheapest DJ
When BUDGET is your ONLY
Criteria for DJ Entertainment Selection
In the planning of your
special day, you decided to go with "Budget DJs" for your ceremony and
reception. After all, he was "the low bid" and all we really
need is someone to push the buttons and play CDs like I do at home, right? Let us describe THE MANY things that OEP WILL KEEP FROM HAPPENING
TO YOU!
Before your wedding, you have had a many failed attempts and unreturned
phone calls to discuss the details of your wedding day.
It is now
YOUR special day. You have a special moment with your father
interrupted by your mother asking "When is the DJ supposed to arrive?" The
ceremony is supposed to start in 10 minutes and no sign of the DJ. At 10
minutes after the scheduled time to start the ceremony, the DJ shows up,
apologizes for his tardiness, explains that the party he just did went
"overtime" and proceeds to move his equipment in. He now asks where you
would like him to set up. (He didn't prepare ahead of time.) He
brings in some equipment having to ask your well-dressed guests to step aside while he sets
up. In 10 minutes, he's ready. As you hear the processional music,
it's not the one you requested! You look at your father and proceed
down the isle anyway. As you look at your "Budget DJ" you notice he
is dressed in jeans, T-shirt and a purple blazer! During your ceremony, it
is time for the candle-lighting. There is dead silence! Where is the
special song you wanted? The DJ quickly fumbles and accidentally puts on
"Burnin' Down The House". By now, you're thinking, well, at
least he has a since of humor. During the recessional, the music stops
suddenly in the middle. The DJ informs you he blew his amp. (By
overpowering an amp too small for the job, it's now fried!) He says, no
problem, he will go down to the local music store and rent another one, he
should only be gone about an hour. But Hey, only a few guests have left
in the one and a half hours he was gone, and he is back now. It only
takes him another 45 minutes to set up the rental gear he is unfamiliar with.
He is now up and running again. The day is saved! AND, we still
have another hour left on the hall rental time! Just in time for toasts.
The DJ announces it time for toasts. He yells out
to the crowd to "Come and Get It". Holding the mic out he waits
silently until someone comes up to use it.
Now, Mr
Budget DJ announces "Dinnertime!" He proceeds to put on some cool rap
music that the high schoolers loved at their dance. He leaves his post to
go help himself at your buffet, without invitation, before your guests and has
some
beer along with it. After dinner, you inform him you would like to have a
"First-Dance" with your husband and request YOUR special song. He informs
you that he didn't bring that song along! However, he has a real cool song
he will use instead. You start your dance. You hear "Like a
Virgin" by Madonna coming out of the speakers. What a sense of humor!
It is now almost closing time and you still have not tossed the bouquet
or garter toss, or even done any toasting or cake-cutting!
Now, the above is a description of the wedding from hell. It is
unlikely that everything above would ever happen. Any ONE of the above
mishaps would potentially ruin your dream come true. Get the picture?
Although the RIGHT Mobile DJ Entertainment for your ceremony may not be the
financially cheapest choice, in the long scheme of things, look what you will
save in the long run. After all, how many times in your life are you
going to get married? How long are you going to remember this special
day? What price will you put on "peace of mind" that EVERYTHING goes
exactly as you want it to?
